This video was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday and it shows bus full of kids in Greece, New York harassing and verbally abusing an elderly woman who serves as their bus monitor. The kids repeatedly poke fun at her weight and looks until she cries, which leads to even more teasing. Just awful. I have faith that the Internet will bring justice and make these kids sorry for posting this video online.
Props to Karen for keeping her cool and not murdering every single one of those little shitheads with her bare hands. She has the patience of a saint. I feel so bad for this poor lady. That being said, she’s probably the worst bus monitor on Earth. Clearly no authority there.
Speaking as a former bus monitor myself, Rule No.1 as a bus monitor is making sure the kids afraid of you. If they’re afraid, they won’t step out of line.
And if one of these dickbags were one of my offspring, would I ground them? Would I yell at them? Would I make them personally apologize to this woman? No, no, and no. I would absolutely give them the good old fashioned treatment and break out the belt. I guarantee that ignorant little ass wouldn’t speak a word to Karen again.
These kids are sick little s**t and deserved to have their a** kicked!!

Right. Because people possessed of the “God spirit” never do anything vicious or evil. Never ever!
Morality does not need to be taught via fairy tales or myths about deities.
If the morality needed for civilization is innate , why are these kids behaving like this? Nobody disagrees on the potential for good and evil in humans. Whatever method was chosen to teach morality is failing in this case. What method would you use to teach children morality absent “fairy tales” “myths”?
Christ, I dunno, maybe I’ll start with the INBORN moral system that humans have, which allows us to function as a unit and thereby survive, since individually we’re shitbricks. Then perhaps I’ll do what every parent does, reward them for being good and punish them for being bad. But instead of lies and manipulations and cruel brainwashing, when my kids ask me why they have to do something, I’ll tell them the truth. WHY is it wrong to bully someone until they cry? It’s not because some cosmic fairy is keeping a tab like Santa Claus! It’s because 1) you wouldn’t like to be bullied until you cry (like the kids probably are now that their stuff is spread all over the internet) and 2) that sort of thing will hinder you in life. As they’re learning now, the social unit will gang the fuck up on anyone who tries to torment its members. Even if THEY lack moral impulses, most humans have them, and we’ve formed a pretty complex law system to punish people who break those impulses.
Inborn moral system? In and of itself that is an admission of a created order. There is no naturalistic or evolutionary explanation for a moral system that reaches beyond the boundaries of self preservation. Darwinism actually requires the denial of such…in nature, the weak are killed off, not put in wheel chairs or tended to. The idea of universal morality requires the existence of a universal standard. Like the sensus divinititus (inborn awareness of a divine “other” that is universal among humanity), universal morality is real, and the only explanation is a creator that sets such a standard.
What you witnessed with the kids was actually a perfect example of natural order – pack mentality. Individually, none of the kids would have challenged the bus monitor. Collectively, they chose to ignore their inner moral compass, and piled on.
What utter claptrap.
The fact that you refer to evolutionary theory and fact as “Darwinism” (a pejorative) gives you away, as does your simplification of the theory through the usual creationist language—that “Darwinism” is about the weak being killed off and nothing more. Morality and altruism absolutely are accounted for by naturalistic and evolutionary explanations, and they are observable in species other than our own. Just because you haven’t the slightest awareness of this doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
Morality produced religion—not the other way around.
These kids were all christians. Their parents are christians too.
You can’t blame bad behavior on a lack of make-believe spirituality, and it’s not only disingenuous but downright offensive to try and make this an issue of faith vs reason.
