New Music: Oberhofer – ‘Haus’

Posted by Jim Lyons on July 10, 2012

‘Oberhofer’ released their first album entitled ‘Time Capsules II’ to little fanfare in the Spring but are starting to get air time and national exposure after being a nice surprise at Coachella. The lo-fi indie band, headed by lead singer and college-aged namesake Brad Oberhofer recently signed a deal with Glassnote Records and will be playing Lollapalooza later this summer.

Oberhofer’s first album, composed mostly by himself, is reminiscent of Bon Iver’s first album, not in sound but in that it was almost entirely a one-man show. Brad’s vulnerability, hopes, and unknowing come through over the course of the album and his unique voice make for a very good ‘mood album’. It’s not something you can (or should) rock out to in the car with your friends, but it’s something you should give a listen in the comfort of your own home.
