If you hadn’t heard by now, Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, and the Farrelly Brothers all confirmed they would return to film a sequel to 1994′s Dumb and Dumber, which is (in my opinion) one of the funniest movies of all-time.
But now, the future of the project is looking dim as Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Carrey has dropped out of the production, citing lack of enthusiasm on the studio’s part.
According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project.
Are you as disappointed in this news as I am? I was definitely looking forward to seeing the sequel, but now I’d say that I have almost 0% interest in this film if Carrey is not participating, if it even gets made. Maybe they’ll work something out, or maybe this is a blessing in disguise. After all, it would pretty hard to top the original…especially after an 18-year hiatus.
