Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux has beaten out Nashville Predators tendy Pekka Rinne to win the first ever EA Sports NHL cover vote, meaning he will grace the cover of the upcoming NHL 13.
The 24-year old alternate captain racked up 93 points on 28 goals and and 65 assists last season in Philly and has been dubbed one of the league’s up-and-coming superstars.
In my personal opinion, Giroux is a much better choice for the cover than Rinne, who, despite a great season, wasn’t even the best goalie in the NHL last season. The fans got that one wrong, if there was going to be a goalie on the cover (and there hasn’t been since NHL 97) it should have been the 26-year old American-born breakout stud who also now happens to be a Stanley Cup Champion - Jonathan Quick.
