Album Review: Kenny Chesney – Welcome to the Fishbowl

Posted by T-Pain on June 20, 2012

Kenny Chesney has released his fourteenth studio album, Welcome to the Fishbowl just in time for the start of summer. Chesney is one of the most recognizable names is all of country music. His smooth melodies and chill guitar rifts make his music so easy to listen to. Welcome to the Fishbowl is no different. This album is chalk full of tailgating party jams as well as epic ballads.

Kenny has been making country hits for his entire career. Even people so against listening to country music love the sound of “Summertime” or “When the Sun Goes Down.” His crossover appeal on Welcome to the Fishbowl is seen from the opening track, “Come Over.” The energy certainly picks up on the Tim McGraw assisted “Feel Like a Rockstar.” This song will have the Country Fest fans going crazy.

While there are great vibes coming from “the fishbowl” Chesney did not write a majority of this album. Being a complete artist means that you write your own material. Kenny is a great singer but his words seem hallow knowing he did not write his songs. This is a common theme throughout country music. Most country hits usually have someone else behind the lyrics. Artists like The Band Perry and Taylor Swift deserve a lot of credit for singing and writing their own material.

That being said, Kenny Chesney has delivered another great album. It is not just a great country album either. Anyone that wants to start listening to country music should pick up a Kenny Chesney album. Welcome to the Fishbowl captures the true essence of summer.
