The Boston Red Sox officially begin defending their World Series championship on March 31 when they play their first regular-season game in Baltimore. Before then, though, comes Spring Training. Pitchers and catchers report to the Red Sox’ Spring Training facility in Fort Myers, Florida, on Saturday, February 15. The rest of the team follows a few days later, February 18.
While we fans get excited about camp opening, we get even giddier when the games begin. For the Red Sox, that day is Thursday, February 27, when the team hosts both the Huskies of Northeastern University and the Boston College Eagles beginning at 1:05 EST at Jet Blue Park. The official Grapefruit League schedule, which consists of 31 games — including split-squad games — begins the next day when the Minnesota Twins come to Fenway South.
Spring Training Online.com has both the schedule and ticket prices for Jet Blue Park for this year’s games. To summarize, tickets will range from $5 for the lawn behind the right-center field fence to $48 for home plate dugout box seats. The median price is $27 for the left-field and right-field grandstand or Green Monster Deck. Prices for other areas vary within the range. Tickets are now on sale through Red Sox.com, Ticket Master, or phone at 888-REDSOX6 (888-733-7696).
Most games will begin at 1:05 with the exceptions of the March 8, 15, 19, 20, and 27 games. On March 8, the home split-squad game begins at 7:05 as do the full-roster games on the other four dates. The only off day is Wednesday, March 12. See the full schedule on Spring Training Online or at Red Sox.com.
