There’s something very fishy about the Chad Ochocinco car robbery

Posted by Pete Blackburn on May 24, 2012

Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco took to Twitter after reportedly having his wallet and his iPod stolen from his rental car Tuesday night. Ochocinco tweeted a picture (above) of the smashed rear window of his rented Cadillac Escalade on Wednesday and alerted his 3.5 million followers that he had been robbed.

This is total bull droppings… they broke in my Escalade rent a car.. they took my fucking Starbucks cards..lockerz.com/s/211224430

(Side note: I love how he censors himself and calls it bull “droppings” but then goes on to drop an f-bomb in the very same tweet.)

He also tweeted out the following, erm, “emotional” Twitvid:

“I feel like I’m about to tear up. What I’m pissed about is that these motherfuckers took my Starbucks card, not just any Starbucks card, I earned the gold card. Do you know how many coffees I’ve had to drink and lemon loaves I’ve had to purchase to get to that gold card?”

Now this is where things get a little fishy for me. Ochocinco appears to not give a damn about his credit cards, cash, or any other belongings in the wallet other than his Starbucks gold card. He name drops and tweets about Starbucks throughout this whole ordeal.

Next thing you know, someone miraculously finds his wallet in a parking lot.

Who found my wallet? What about my Starbucks card? Is it still in there? RT @jennacote: @ochocinco It was found in a parking lot ….

Crazy I found my wallet using (Social Media) Unreal how powerful this site is, they left I.D. n credit card but stole my Starbucks card WTF

Someone just dumped the wallet in a Providence parking lot? And the only thing they took out of the wallet is the Starbucks card? Doesn’t seem like a very good thief if you ask me.

Then Starbucks tweets at Ochocinco and they go back and forth, ultimately with the coffee company telling the receiver they’ll replace his Gold Card at no extra charge.

The whole thing seems a little staged to me, seems like an elaborate brand advertisement for Starbucks and an easy quick payday for Ochocinco, who’s a pretty savvy business man. Could I be wrong? Absolutely, but this whole series of events seems a little bit too coincidental if you ask me.
