Jeff Green isn’t exactly the most beloved athlete in Boston history. Traded from Oklahoma City, along with Nenad Krstic for Kendrick Perkins last season, Green served primarily as Paul Pierce’s backup. The fact that most fans (and players) were irate with the decision to trade Perkins only added to the general distaste the mediocre Green was treated with.
Well, on July 31, Green made a few more enemies in Boston at the Celebrity Soccer Challenge. Though the event occurred in D.C., Green’s takedown of former U.S. women’s soccer star Mia Hamm hit close to home for former Red Sox superstar Nomar Garciaparra. The husband of Hamm is still more popular in Beantown than Green, nearly a decade after leaving. Green couldn’t have decked Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who also played in the game?
Check out the tackle in the video below (fast forward to around 2:00).
