For some reason or another, one YouTube genius who goes by the name of Logiano1 decided to take some of hockey’s most thrilling moments and match them up to some exciting and corresponding soccer calls. The result, we tell you, is absolutely glorious. I can’t even imagine how much time it took this guy (or girl?) to do this but we thank him for it because this is tremendous.

Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland, is bringing you what looks like a badass mafia flick this fall with his new film, ‘Gangster Squad.’ With an awesome cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone, Nick Nolte, Sean Penn, and Giovanni Ribisi, this movie will come with some pretty high expectations.

The film is based on the true story of the LAPD’s fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s, with Gosling, Brolin, Nolte, and Ribisi part of the police department’s “Gangster Squad” assigned to take out a top level organized crime leader (Penn)…and do it “off the books.”

Based off the trailer, the film looks pretty badass. If it lives up to expectations, it could propel Fleischer, who also produced MTV’s ‘Rob & Big’ and ‘Fantasy Factory,’ and his directing career to another level.

Now I know their last album, Intimacy, came out in 2008 but lets be real, it wasn’t the Bloc Party we’ve come to know and love. That album was heavily influenced by lots of electronic music, nu-rave, and strange vocal effects to their lead singer, Kele. Even after the release of that album, there was a brief hiatus for the group, with Kele making a solo album and other members branching off to do their own thing. Nobody knew if there would be any new music from Bloc Party, not even the members themselves. Thankfully the members got back in the studio and so far the outcome looks promising. ”Octopus” is a step in the right direction for the band and with the release of their new album Four, out August 20th, hopefully we can forget about their previous album.

Check out the video for “Octopus” below:

Four is out on Frenchkiss records August 20th and “Octopus” will be available for download from iTunes August 11.

Maybe you’ve heard of Nitro Circus, maybe you haven’t. In short, it’s an “action sports collective” led by dirtbiker/rally car racer/hilarious thrillseeker Travis Pastrana that is basically Pastrana and his friends traveling around the world riding dirtbikes, base jumping, and performing outrageous stunts. Think Jackass, but a lot more action sports oriented.

Like Jackass, Nitro Circus has had it’s own TV show on MTV in the past and, also like Jackass, they will now be taking their stunts to a movie theatre near you.

The first Nitro Circus feature film will be in 3D for your viewing pleasure and is set for an August 8, 2012 release.

Released: June 29th

Director: Seth Macfarlane

Budget: $50-$65 million

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Seth MacFarlane(Voice), Giovanni Ribisi, Joel McHale

Rated: R

You know when you’re a little kid, and there’s that one thing that comforts you? It could be a toy, blanket, stuffed animal, even a pillow. Sometimes kids talk to the object as if it’s listening and it can be comforting for them. It’s always good for a little kid to have something like that. However, when you’re at the age of 35 and are still doing that, society may label you as a pedophile. Well, apparently, not when that object talks back and has a name and personality.

In the comedy movie titled Ted, a 35 year old man named John(Wahlberg) lives with his life-long teddy bear friend named Ted (Voice of MacFarlane) who, because of a childhood wish by John, came to life. Since then, they have been the best of friends who do everything together. But John’s girlfriend Lori (Kunis) wants to take their relationship to the next level, putting John and Ted’s friendship on the line.

What I think I and many others enjoyed most about this movie, was the fact that it keeps you constantly laughing. For a good 2 hours my stomach hurt like hell, it was totally worth it. If you want a good laugh along with giving your abs a work out, Ted is probably a good choice for you. Sure, it may be a typical romantic/comedy story where a friendship is on the line from one’s love relationship. But the unique characters and situations allow the audience to enjoy it and not feel like they’re watching something they’ve already seen a million times.

While this movie is extremely vulgar and raunchy, it isn’t just inappropriate lines that get old and boring after a while. A lot of the jokes are very clever and unexpected. It was a nice mix where each joke was funny, but still allowed the next joke to be just as funny, without overdoing it. And, as usual, Wahlberg, Kunis, and Ribisi were easy to watch on screen. MacFarlane voiced Ted nearly perfectly throughout the film, making every actor and scene a hell of a lot funnier.

Ted is almost the perfect summer movie. It had a solid story, clever twists, well-chosen cast, and hilarious humor. It was anticipated to be one of the funniest movies of the year, and it didn’t disappoint.

Grade: 4/5

Jose Canseco might not be a baseball star anymore, but he is now the shining star of two awesomely funny Old Milwaukee beer ads.

Props to the folks at Funny or Die for producing these hilarious ads, which aired in Kansas City during last night’s Home Run Derby. Canseco is just one of the nutbags that is so crazy that he doesn’t even need to do much to be hilarious, much like Mike Tyson, so it’s no surprise that these commercials are awesome.

Props to Canseco for poking fun at himself, but I still have to give the funniest Old Milwaukee spokesman award to Will Ferrell.

This is the first single from the new Band of Horses album “Mirage Rock” coming this September, and it’s a pretty catchy summer tune from the same guys who are most know for their 2006 hit single ‘The Funeral.’ These dudes are some of the most underrated groups in mainstream music and I’m really looking forward to the new album.

The Killers debuted a brand new single on the Kevin & Bean show on KROQ-LA this morning called ‘Runaways.’ It has the sound of an ’80s power ballad, getting away from the pop-sound that the band aimed for in their Day & Age album. ‘Runaways’ is the first single off their upcoming album “Battle Born,” which is set to come out this fall.

Passion Pit has made it very clear for the past two months that they have a new album coming out by leaking a new song every few weeks. ”Constant Conversations”, is the third leaked song from their upcoming album Gossamer which comes out July 24th. This song isn’t the Passion Pit everyone is familiar with, its more of a sensual song to make babies to. They’re known for their upbeat electro-pop dance songs and this one slows everything down to give it a nice R&B feel. Lead singer, Michael Angelakos, hits the trademark Passion Pit falsetto vocals while harmonizing with some female backing vocals. After hearing “Constant Conversations” and their other single off Gossamer, “I’ll Be Alright”, I have faith that this album won’t be a Sophomore slump.

Gossamer is out July 24th on Columbia Records

The lo-fi indie band, headed by lead singer and college-aged namesake Brad Oberhofer recently signed a deal with Glassnote Records and will be playing Lollapalooza later this summer.

Oberhofer’s first album, composed mostly by himself, is reminiscent of Bon Iver’s first album, not in sound but in that it was almost entirely a one-man show. Brad’s vulnerability, hopes, and unknowing come through over the course of the album and his unique voice make for a very good ‘mood album’. It’s not something you can (or should) rock out to in the car with your friends, but it’s something you should give a listen in the comfort of your own home.

DC and Ken Block present Gymkhana FIVE: Ultimate Urban Playground; San Francisco.

Shot on the actual streets of San Francisco, California, GYM5 features a focus on fast, raw and precise driving action. Filmed over four days, director Ben Conrad and his team are back to work on their second Gymkhana production and delivered the entire city of San Francisco as Ken Block’s personal gymkhana playground. DC Shoes also provided fellow DC athlete and longtime Ken Block friend, Travis Pastrana, to make a cameo appearance on his dirtbike, and S.F. resident Jake Phelps of Thrasher Magazine fame also makes a cameo as Block hoons S.F. in his most incredible Gymkhana yet.

Five Gymhkanas in and Ken Block still manages to be blow me away. This one doesn’t have as much entertainment and post-production emphasis as the others did, instead it’s more of a pure display of Block’s insane driving skills in an authentic environment.

Most importantly, it’s still cool as shit.

From Dispatch press release:

“Circles Around The Sun” is the legend of our late friend, Larry Perry.

As Chad told Rolling Stone, “In the early 1960s the space race had captured America. Looking to outdo the Soviets without putting their necks on the line, NASA, in an unprecedented, controversial move, took a very disabled young man away from his family to ready him for space flight. Both the USSR and USA had sent dogs and chimps into space, but the USA wanted more. Larry cannot walk or speak but was in perfect health and, more importantly, in the eyes of the government, expendable. Unbeknownst to them, from a very young age, Larry had always been an adrenaline junkie and the scientists and government officials were actually fulfilling the biggest adventure he could ever dream – to be launched into space. To everyone’s surprise, Larry returns from space triumphant and smiling.”

Circles Around the Sun is the album title-track to Dispatch’s first studio album in over 12 years. The Boston area-based band split up in 2002 but announced that they would be getting back together on January 1st, 2011 and went on a United States reunion tour last summer. (I saw them on their second-to-last show of the tour in Boston and they were incredible.)

The CATS single, the first off the album, was released a few weeks ago and is a pretty impressive track considering the band’s lengthy hiatus from studio music. The album is due to be released August 21st and will undoubtedly be one of the hottest albums of the summer.

You can also check out a couple other tracks off the album, “Not Messin’” and “Josaphine,” in the player below.

From SportsGrid:

Cars were spinning, reporters were reporting, and all was well in Russia land. Except this reporter, filming an episode of Auto Exotica in Moscow, was standing just a little bit too close to the track, and was subsequently nailed by a car.

The reporter luckily evaded serious injury, but the video is quite frightening. One second he’s on frame and the next he’s just not.

Nobody thought it would be a bad idea for this guy to stand right next to the racetrack while the cars were doing donuts and drifting just feet away from him? Seriously, not a single person? That seems a bit funny to me. Here’s a thought: If you don’t want to get smoked by an out of control car, try standing a few more feet away from that big speeding death trap. Or at least put yourself in a position to see it coming and give yourself a shot to get out of the way…

Crazy Russians.
