The NHL announced today that they have cancelled all preseason games scheduled through September 30th. One can assume that more cancellations are in the cards for the NHL, as formal negotiations have not taken place since last week, before the lockout was even officially imposed. Shortly before the NHL made this announcement, the league informed workers of a 20% pay cut and four day work weeks beginning on the first of October. This doesn’t come as a surprise, although it does raise a red flag when it comes to the regular season. It’s slated to begin on October 11th, but even that is very much in doubt at this point.
