After losing four of their last five games, the Bruins came away with a 3-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils tonight. Tim Thomas started in net for the B’s and stopped all 28 shots he faced. With the win, the Bruins improve to 9-5-1, while the Devils continue to struggle and fall to 5-11-2.
Michael Ryder scored a powerplay goal to put the B’s on the board with 4:34 left in the first period. Then, 43 seconds into the second period, Nathan Horton added his team-high eighth goal of the season to put Boston ahead 2-0.
The third period started off in similar fashion, with Blake Wheeler also scoring 43 seconds into the period, which capped off the scoring for the Bruins. Mark Recchi tallied two assists on the night.
It was good to see the B’s come out and win easily after losing four of their previous five contests. Thomas looked sharp in net after a few bad games. Hopefully Thomas can return to his early season form where he allowed only three goals in his first six games.
The Bruins travel to “The Greatest Arena in World” on Wednesday, where they will face the New York Rangers. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
